technical information

ATTENTION!!! The Jammer only streams using the Quicktime or iTunes players!
Other players (Real Player, WinAmp, Windows Media, etc.) that you
have used in the past are no longer compatible.

Also, if you are still running Windows 98,
it is NO LONGER SUPPORTED by Quicktime or Microsoft.
We recommend upgrading to Windows XP
or above to listen to The Jammer.

Finally, if you are using a DIALUP MODEM,
you will NO LONGER be able to receive our feed.

You are encouraged to upgrade yourself to one of the
inexpensive (less than $20 a month) DSL packages in the U.S,
or a CABLE MODEM. (DIALUP MODEMS are gradually being phased out)

The free Apple iTunes/Quicktime Player is required
to listen to thejammer.org

Download iTunes (Windows Vista/XP/ME or MAC OS X)

NOTE FOR FIRST TIME USERS

If you are connecting to us for the first time, download the
FREE iTunes/Quicktime Player, then click on the “Click Here To Listen Live”.

You may receive a prompt at the top of the player asking you to install an ActiveX control. Highlight that prompt with your mouse button, then right click and select:  “Install ActiveX Control”.

The player should then open up and play music.

From then on, you can simply click on the “Click Here To Listen Live” icon,
and the stream will begin playing.

IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU EXPERIENCE CONNECTION PROBLEMS:

If any of our listeners receive a 404 BAD REQUEST error in the pop up box when they click on the connect link or the display says “Redirecting” then hangs, they may be behind a firewall.

Here’s how to get around that:

You will need to make sure you have the latest version of iTunes/Quicktime on your system (Version 7). Click on this link to get the software: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download the software, then try connecting again. If that doesn’t work, in the middle of the pop-up box, right click inside the box, and select “Plug-In Settings”. That will open up the Quicktime Preferences box.

Select the “Advanced” tab, and in the Streaming box you’ll see the heading: “Transport Setup”. Click the down arrow with your mouse button and select “Custom”. (It’s selected as Automatic by default)

In “Streaming Transport” under “Transport Protocol”, click the down arrow with your mouse button and select HTTP. In Port ID, click on the down arrow with your mouse button and select “80”. Click on OK, then OK again.

Try connecting again. You should then get our feed.

Helpful Tips Listen to the Jammer on your home STEREO system!

Did you know that you don't have you use the little speakers that came with your computer to listen to Internet Radio? You can plug directly into your home stereo system! Here's how:

Pick up a 1/8 inch to RCA cord (you can purchase this at any store that sells electronics, such as Radio Shack), unplug the speaker cord attached to your computer speakers which would be your "line-out" on your soundcard, and plug in the 1/8 inch end into the "line-out" jack.

Look for an open input on your stereo with an RCA jack (marked L and R for left and right side). Most RCA cords  are marked red and black. Plug the red jack into R, the black jack into L.

Now you can listen to the Jammer like you're listening on the radio...........in STEREO!

If your computer already has good speakers and you don't have a home stereo system, you can purchase an inexpensive sub-woofer at any computer store that can plugged into your computer. This will give you a fuller sound.

You can listen to the Jammer anywhere around the house!

Are you frustrated that you can't always tune in to the Jammer because you can't be in front of your computer all the time?

We came across a solution to this problem.
It's called the "V6000 Mobile Black Box".
With this product, you can plug it in to your computer's sound card, select an unused FM frequency, and be able to pick up the Jammer with any AM/FM radio, boon box, or stereo system. Just tune in to the frequency you selected.

The transmission range is around 450 feet or more, so it has plenty of power so you can take your radio anywhere around the house, even the garage. We did some tests with this unit, and found we could pick up the Jammer's signal within a 450 ft. radius. Best of all, it puts out a crystal clear signal in STEREO with no dropouts!

If you want to listen to the Jammer anywhere around the house, we recommend purchasing the Model V6000 Mobile Black Box.
